Fraud Alert for LinkedIn Members
Dear LinkedIn Members,
I’d like to alert you to the user Ricardo John, claiming to be the CEO of Armageddon Charities, a non-existent organization. This gentlemen added me using ‘this’ group as reference and with in 24 hours he added over 200 other LinkedIn Members.
Since then me and quite a few of my connections were added by this user and all of us received emails to ‘extend our companies’ to his location and he will be happy to supervise the entire operations for our companies.
Upon further questioning, we established following discrepancies of concern -
1) He claims company is based in Gurgaon, India – our Indian staff contacted the Business Registrar and confirmed no such organization is registered nationwide
2) He emailed me in a response to confirm he is a resident of Kerala, India – the two states are 1000s of miles apart and his email confirms ‘I put in error Gurgaon, but Jehova is everywhere and he is connecting us with love’
3) Upon questioning how exactly he will expand our operations he suggested ‘You can pay me investment money to build buildings and office and I will create a branch for you and become your operations director in India and earn you lot of money’ (verbatim)
4) When I asked further questions and it became evident he is fraudulent, he replied back ‘Jehova will help you find a job and remove your sadness because I am very sorry you are so alone and jobless and dying with AIDS, Jehova will help you heal”
I did report it to LinkedIn on 11th April 2012, so far I have exchanged a few emails and the Risk Manager is looking into this but it appears the LinkedIn team is walking very slow compared to Ricardo John, who from 120 connections have converted into 500+ connections in a week’s period.
I recommend if you have been added, to remove his as connection and report his profile and alert your connections of this fraud. His profile is at the link http://in.linkedin.com/pub/ricardo-john/4b/59/87
